Premonitions-Jude Watson

Gracie has psychic abilities, and she needs to use them to save her friend Emily who suddenly vanishes into thin air. She gets visions, or premonitions, of things at different times. Once she saw that her mother would die, and that unfortunately happened. Emily disappears, and Gracie must use her premonitions as clues to save her. In her quest, Gracie gets involved in another problem of her own. At first, I didn’t think that I would enjoy reading this. But I was wrong, it’s a really great book that kept me on the edge of my seat. It doesn’t take a lot of time to read, and I recommend it to both boys and girls who enjoy reading mysteries.

Inkspell-Cornelia Funke

If you have not read Inkheart yet don’t read this book. This book starts when a man named Orpheus helps read Dustfinger back to the Inkworld so he could escape from Basta. However, Orpheus didn’t read Dustfinger’s apprentice, Farid, into the Inkworld. Orpheus also plans to read Basta into eh Inkworld. Because of this, Farid goes to Elinor’s house and asks Meggie to read him to the book so he can warn Dustfinger. In the process, Meggie is also sent to the Inkworld where she finds Fenoglio, the author of Inkheart. Later, Mo, Resa, Mortola, and Basta are sent to the Inkworld. Mo is shot by Mortola when they arrive. Soon everyone in Inkworld thinks that Mo is a robber named the Bluejay, who is a character in some of their songs. Meggie, Mo and Resa try to find each other while Fenoglio looks for ways to fix the problems in the story because the good side seems to lose their leaders.I didn’t like that much because the begining was boring and there were too many bad words so I would say this is not a good book for those whose parents don’t allow to read books with many bad words, though I would say that it would suit both boys and girls.

The White Fox Chronicles – Gary Paulsen

The story The White Fox Chronicles started when Cody Pierce, a fourteen year old boy, was a servant for the evil Confederation of Consolidated Republics (CCR) in the year 2057. The Americans were almost extinct but there were some rebels left and the CCR was taking control of the whole world. Cody was captured by the CCR a year ago and brought to the camp. He was not able to leave the camp so he and Luther, another captured American, made a plan to escape. Cody wanted to get Major McLaughlin, another captured American out of the camp too. At night, they sneaked out a tunnel Cody and Luther had made. They escaped to an army base where Major McLaughlin’s solders lived.

In the next chronicle, Cody left McLaughlin’s base and tried to get the other servants out of the CCR camp. On the way there, he was captured by a group and taken to the group’s base. He then ran into his old friend Franklin and found out that Franklin was the leader of the group. Franklin and his assistant, Rico, trained Cody how to become a skilled fighter. One day, the CCR came and killed everybody in the group except Cody because he was hiding. Then Cody came out from his hiding spot and killed all the CCR solders there and destroyed Franklin’s base.

In the last chronicle, Cody fainted while he was traveling in the desert. A group of Americans found him and took him to their hideout. When Cody recovered, he was asked to train the kids in the camp. As time passed, the kids were able to use guns and other weapons. Then, one of the kids was kidnapped by the CCR and taken to the same CCR camp Cody used to be in. Cody set up a plan to rescue the child and other innocent people in the camp and to destroy the CCR camp. The plan put all of the lives of the people in Cody’s camp in danger. Will Cody be able to follow the steps of the plan to rescue the child and destroy the CCR’s camp? Will the CCR kill the child before Cody makes it to the CCR’s camp? Will this be Cody’s last battle? Read The White Fox Chronicles to find out. The interesting thing is that Gary Paulsen wrote this book. There are three sequential chronicles in this book. Mostly boys would enjoy this book because this book has lots of fighting scenes.

Hit or Myth- Robert Asprin

This is the fourth book in the series, Myth Books, and it is action packed with adventure. This is my favorite one of the books so far. Rodrick the Fifth, the king of Possiltum, needs a break or vacation. So, he asks Skeeve, or The Great Skeeve, to use a disguise spell and take over for a day. Skeeve agrees, not knowing the details. Another thing, Aahz might be gone forever! Aahz’s nephew took him back to Perv by tricking Aahz into thinking somebody in his family is dying. So, Skeeve is on his own now. Back to what I was saying. Skeeve doesn’t know the details. Well, apparently the king is supposed to get married soon, but he does not love the women whom he should marry. He has decided to hide. That’s how he tricked Skeeve. Now, Skeeve might have to marry the women because she’s now coming out of her carrige! Will Skeeve have to marry this women? Will Aahz ever come back?!?! Why doesn’t King Rodrick the Fifth love this women? What is the women who the king was intended to marry’s name? I’ll answer on of these questions, but the rest you’ll have to find out yourself. The women’s name is Queen Hemlock. Read Hit or Myth to find out the other questions!

Myth Directions- Robert Asprin

In Myth Directions, Skeeve is going to need all his magik to get out of this one, at least that’s what is says on the cover of the book. This is the third book in the myth series and it is a fantastic one. Skeeve ends up going out with a demon named Tananda, Tanda for short, to look for a birthday present for Aahz. To find this present, they are going to some of the weirdest dimentions there are. Over time, Skeeve gets hungry, so they go to a humanoid demention to get him food. While they are there, there is some kind of celebration. Apparently the place where Skeeve and Tanda were, was the town that won the big game. The trophy is about, no is, the ugliest thing Skeeve has ever seen! Then Tanda announces that she wants to steal the trophy, and give it to Aahz for his birthday! Skeeve doesn’t like the sound of that. Will Skeeve and Tananda steal the trophy efficiantly? If they do, will Aahz like his present? What is the big game? Read Myth Directions to find out.

Will Elidor take the crown off? Will they win the battle against Gieden? Who are Elidor’s friends? Read Crown of Thieves by Ree Soesbee to find out. This is the sixteenth and final book of the series. It is told by Aqua. The Cheetah Girls go to this club called Kats and Kitties. It is where wanna-be stars in the singing business hang out. Every year, the Kats and Kitties hold a Christmas meeting. It’s where a group is chosen to sing. The Cheetah Girls don’t get picked so that might mean they aren’t good enough. The Cheetah Girls are suppose to record their demo during December, the only thing is that Aqua and Angie will be in their hometown, Houston to spend Christmas with their family. They start to wonder if they will be replaced in the demo. Why didn’t the Cheetah Girls get picked to sing at the Kats and Kitties meeting? Will Aqua and Angie get replaced? Read the series to get to the final book to find out. This would appeal to girls more because it doesn’t have much action, and boys like action books.

This story is told by Dorinda, and is the fifteenth book in the series. “Mrs. Bosco!” Dorinda has something to tell her. Apparently a man claims to be Corky’s father. Corky is one of Dorinda’s foster brothers. Mrs. Bosco can’t get a lawyer to make sure Corky’s “father” doesn’t take Corky away. This is when the Cheetah Girls come up with a brilliant idea. Some might sing alone, or just show people a talent they have. They will sell tickets to earn the money. Everyone thought this was a brilliant idea but wasn’t quite sure how to make it happen. That’s when Galleria’s mom, Mrs. Dorthea, pops in. They might even be able to get Mouse Almighty to show up! Will the benefit happen? If so, will Mouse Almighty come? Will Corky get taken away? Cheetah Girls: Oops Doggy, Dog! – Doborah Gregory

This is the thirteenth book in the series, and is told by Galleria Garibaldi. Chanel’s ankle might be healed, and the Cheetah Girls are waiting around in the hospital. She’s healed! If Chanel doesn’t exercise, she can get rid of her crutches. That means the Cheetah Girls get to make a demo with Mouse Almighty! If you think that’s good news, wait ‘till you hear this. Toto, Galleria’s dog, is having puppies. Toto is a male, so he must have found a mate. It turns out Toto’s mate is Buffy from down the hall. When the puppies are born, the owner of Buffy says she isn’t going to give them any puppies. Galleria’s mom doesn’t like that, so she says if they don’t get half the puppies, they’re going to court. Later on, Buffy’s owner gives them half of the puppies so that she doesn’t have to go to court. Chanel can’t have one, so Galleria gives one to Dorinda and Chanel. The puppy will just live in Dorinda’s apartment. Galleria is in a fight with Aquanette, Aqua, so she doesn’t offer her a puppy or her sister, Anginette. Galleria thinks about this action and feels guilty, so she offers them a puppy. They accepted. Will Chanel ever get a puppy? What were Galleria and Aqua fighting about? Will the Cheetah Girls get a demo or not? This book would appeal to girls because it doesn’t have a big plot; it is more girl problems building up to the plot.

Wolf Star-Tanith Lee

This is the second book in the series of three. Don’t read it if you haven’t read Wolf Tower. This story is about a young girl named Claidi. She ends up hopelessly confused because she isn’t sure whom she wants to stay with, the man she loves or the man she trusts. A day before her wedding, she gets kidnapped! She wasn’t with her true love, Argul, because it is bad luck to see each other the day before your wedding day. She is watched like a hawk now, and can’t find a way out of the kingdom of misery. She finds out the Wolf Star, isn’t really a star. It is a machine like lots of other things around. The forest is mechanical; the animals that live in there, even the food in there are machines! She travels on the star; which she soon finds out is a ship. She travels on the ship to get to her wedding on time. Will she make it? If she doesn’t, will Argul trust her anymore? Will she get stuck in the middle of the sky if something happens to the star? Read Wolf Star by Tanith Le to find out. Catherine: The Great Journey- Kristiana Gregory

This journal is one of the many of the Royal Diaries. You don’t have to read them in order, because each book does not link to another. This story is about a 14-year-old girl named Figchen. She is to become a princess of Russia if the King approves. One obstacle in this royal rollercoaster is that the Queen is very strict. Once, she cut off a women’s tongue and sent her by herself to Siberia. Figchen has to be a perfectly pretty young woman to not have the same thing happens to her. She is not sure this is possible because her mother always has told her she is ugly. If she wants to be princess, she must marry a 15-year-old boy, Peter III. When she meets him, he turns out not to be a dashing prince, but a silly boy-prince. He plays with his plastic soldiers, and he has a pet rat that he dresses up as a soldier. Do you think she can get through this marriage? Will she even get far enough as the wedding with the queen around? These are questions that will not be answered by the book of Stephanie, but by the book Catherine: The Great Journey. This book would appeal to girls more because this is a book about a girl’s inner feeling. Hope you read it!

Another Fine Myth- Robert Asprin

This book is about mischief, dragons, and every once in a while some Pervish cooking. The main character’s name is Skeeve. He is a magician in training, you could also say he’s an apprentice. Garkin is his master. When he summoned a demon, an arrow shot him! Isstvan ordered the person who killed Garkin to do so. All Skeeve knows how to do is levitate a feather and light a candle. That’s not enough to fight a demon. Good news. The demon isn’t mean. In fact, he is Garkin’s friend. His name is Aahz. Also, Aahz is from Perv, which makes him a Pervect. Aahz tells Skeeve he will teach him magik if he helps kill Isstvan. Skeeve agrees. When Aahz tries to do magik, he can’t! Apparently, Aahz and Garkin use to play little jokes on each other, and now it is taking away Aahz’s powers. Garkin is the only one that can take the spell off, but he’s dead! Skeeve is Aahz’s last hope of killing Isstvan. Will Skeeve be able to learn enough to beat Isstvan in time? Will Aahz get his powers back? If so, will he use them to earn money, or to beat Isstvan? This is the first book out of a marvelous series. I started reading it and got hooked. This would appeal to boys more than girls, but if you’re a tomboy, you will get into it. This is a harder book to read because it has about 265 words per page. If you’re like me, you will read the 200 action-packed pages in less than 3 days.

Martin the Warrior – Brian Jacques

Martin the Warrior as a young child was captured by the beast, Bedrang the Tyrant. Bedrang disliked him yet he was always amused of his boldness. Martin vowed his revenge when Bedrang had taken his father’s rusty, ancient sword passed on to him and now he’s works as a slave building a castle for the Tyrant. When an accident happens and Martin has been sentenced to death, he “meets” two new friends, Rose and Grumm, who were looking for Rose’s brother, Brome. These friends decide to help him, but this only leads to Martin being put in an underground pit. But this is also a good thing because there, he meets two more good friends, Felldoh and Brome, and well what do you know, Rose’s brother was down there! With Rose’s and Grumm’s help, the three creatures manage to escape, but can they escape the island of Marshank? Though they all vowed to have revenge, will they have the chance to before time runs out? Read this novel of the Redwall Series, Martin the Warrior and follow the path the five friends make. I’d recommend this book to both boys and girls who like fantasy books involving little creatures such as squirrels, hedgehogs, mice, badger, searats, etc. I hope this book perks up your fire in reading and I hope you’ll enjoy it… If you read that is! ^^

Harry has had enough of these summers with the Dursleys, especially with his cousin, Dudley. One day Dudley kept bothering Harry and just before he was about to explode, two Dementors came by and almost kissed Dudley. Harry used one of his charms and sent the Dementors running away. Her punishments are so cruel that no one can defend themselves anymore; what is with her teaching skills? Hermione thinks that this is useless so why don’t they teach others to fight instead? Under Harry’s tutoring, several students are learning defensive magic. With Umbridge’s strict rules and such, will Hogwarts succeed in preparing for the war?
Later, Harry has a vision of Sirius and they go to a lab-sort-of-place. There Harry finds the prophecy that Voldemort had been seeking the entire year. Harry and his friends, even the Order, fought the best they could but they were outnumbered. Sirius was even killed… How did Harry react to his godfather dying and what are the secrets of the prophecy? Just before Jeremy Fink’s thirteenth birthday, he and his friend, Lizzy Muldoun discover a locked box with no keys. Figuring that Jeremy’s father created this before he died, Jeremy and Lizzy try to open it, but where are the keys? The box says it holds the meaning of life, but how? So Jeremy and Lizzy go around town in markets and store buying keys and trying to fit them in the holes of the metal box. The person who made this thing had lost the keys, but Jeremy doesn’t believe that. They go in the store and practically destroyed the place looking for the keys. This destruction leads Lizzy and Jeremy to a place and now they have to do community service. Becoming friends with Mr. Oswald, they start running errands returning things that Mr. Oswald took back to the owner and every time they return something, they earn a clue that leads them closer to finding the keys. Will Jeremy and Lizzy be able to find the keys in time for his birthday? And most of all, will Jeremy be able to find out what the meaning of life is? Read Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life and maybe you can also find out the meaning of life. I’d recommend this book to any child that can read! It was so heartwarming and amazingly beautiful. I hope many children will a learn a thing or two from this book, I certainly did! ^^

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth book of the Harry Potter Series. It starts with Harry dreaming of the killing process of Frank Bryce, the Riddle manor’s elderly caretaker. Though, that’s not a big part of this story, Harry remains on the Quidditch team and when he’s been chosen as an important player of the Triwizad Tournament underage, his best friend, Ron, becomes envious and accuses him of cheating. Harry Potter and his friend, Cedric Diggory, have to have special training for this tournament which include three tasks. They must retrieve a golden egg from a dragon, retrieve something that’s hidden in Hogwarts’ Lake, and they must navigate their way through a maze full of magical obstacles. When Harry and Cedric find the prize, the Cup which is actually a portkey, they were transported to a graveyard where Cedric’s death lay and where Voldemort awaits. When Harry manages to escape Voldemort, does he escape by himself? Did Cedric actually die or did Harry, with his unbelievable powers, change his true fate? Read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the answer will come to you. I’d recommend this book to Middle Schoolers probably because of the vocabulary and such, but if you’re interested and you want to read something, go ahead and read the fourth novel of the Harry Potter Series. Enjoy! ^^

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter’s third year at Hogwarts already starts off pretty bad. First of all, he had to spend his supposed-to-be-great summer at the Dursleys’ and when his temper loses it’s control, Harry uses under-age magic. Knowing that he can’t stay here, Harry runs away and to his delight, he doesn’t get expelled. Second of all, how is Harry supposed to feel safe at Hogwarts if some mass murderer, Sirius Black, who escaped from Azkaban, is on the loose? Great and now the sinister prison guards are guarding their school. Seems pretty bad right now, huh? But, that isn’t all. Dementors are becoming more black than ever, sucking up anyone’s happiness just by being close. Harry Potter’s new teacher, Lupin, admits he’s a werewolf and it seems that Sirius Black is one, as well. There seems to be something wrong and Hermione and her time-traveling device, the Time-Turner, travel with Harry to the past to save the two werewolves. The Harry Potter Series are usually recommended to Middle Schoolers, but in my opinion, I think this book should be recommended to anyone with the creativity to imagine Harry’s near-death experiences. Please Enjoy!

Salamandastron – Brian Jacques

As a novel of Redwall, Salamadastron just might be a bit dry, but it perked me up. All the animals of Mossflower are just doing their thing, baking Great Hall cakes and taking in “suffering” creatures. Though of course they don’t know these creatures are their enemies, there are still other problems to be solved. The King of Salamander is having difficulties with his daughter and squirrels are having trouble maintaining their urge to shoot arrows. But what’s with these orphans? There’s an assassin running around somewhere. Someone who likes to slay animals who gets in his way. Ferahgo the Assassin, a weasel as deadly as a dagger with beautiful blue eyes. What will become of Redwall Abbey when they meet with Ferahgo? This experience may turn into a war, it may turn into a pitiful disaster or it may just unite the animals together, making their bond stronger. Which will it be? Reading Salamandastron is the only thing you could do if you want to find out! Recommending this book to any child with imagination as great as theirs can be, would be the best choice to do. Please read this book and please enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – J.K. Rowling

Now attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry is a second-year student studying and learning new wizard experiences. But then he hears rumors about the Chamber of Secrets has been opened once again. Harry finds himself releasing more power than before and danger with strong powers is coming closer. What shall he do? This Chamber of Secrets is getting out of hand and Harry has to figure out who is doing this and how. Exactly where is the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. Adventure with Harry by reading this book and find all the answers. I’d mostly liked to recommend this books to Jr. High students, but if you’re younger, feel free to read the Harry Potter series. No one’s stopping you! But please read carefully. Some of the vocabulary is a bit difficult for kids around 10+ so read slow and carefully. Enjoy! ^^

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter had just recently found out about his real identity from this stranger with a pink umbrella. He was the son of the famous Potters, one a witch and the other a wizard. He decides to leave his the deadly Dursleys to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Turns out he’s very famous as well! Harry may be famous, but what he doesn’t know is that inside of him holds great power. Not just the power to fly well and to battle, but other strong kinds. Many others know of this and just one person, the ultimate killer-wizard, Voldemort, is trying to actually kill him to get the power. This single power that lies in a sorcerer’s stone. And that stone lies in Harry’s hand. Just how strong is Harry Potter? Read along as Harry tries to prove that he is worthy of being a wizard, as well as many others. Though this series may be long, I’d like to recommend this to both boys and girls with great imagination. I hope you don’t give up on this series! Enjoy. ^^

Dragonspell-Donita K. Paul

This book is the first book in its series. The book is about a servant girl named Kale who finds a very small dragon egg. Kale is an O’rant, one of the high races. The high races are like us, humans and Wulder made them. On the other hand, Pretender, the villain in this story, tried to create humans and altered the high races to make the low races. Kale is trying to get to Vendela and the Hall so she runs away from her masters. But after she she runs away she gets chased by Grawligs. She hides in a cave to escape them. Grawligs are like big hairy, stinky, and unintelligent trolls. They are also one of the low races. Then Kale finds out that 2 people had rescued her, Dar and Leetu Bends. She finds out these to people will help her go to the Hall and bcome a servant of Paladin. Paladin is a friend of Wulder so, you can assume that he is a good guy. With her newfound companions Kale faces many dangers along the way to the Hall. Like… oh sorry I’ve gone too far into the story I can’t tell you anymore. Well if you want to find out what happens next you’re going to have to read the book yourself. I think girls and boys should read this book even though it’s about a girl. Enjoy!

Eclipse – Stephenie Meyer

Eclipse the third book of the Twilight Series is the most horror struck book I’ve ever read. Not only does Edward comes back, but Jacob’s a werewolf. This is bad for Bella because vampires and werewolves do NOT get along. Bella chooses her love, Edward, but she still wants to be friends with Jake. How can she do that? Well, this isn’t Bella’s only problem. Victoria, one of the vampires that was going to kill her because Edward killed her mate, is back and she’s hungry. Victoria gets the vampires and werewolves riled up because Victoria’s going around making more vampires and a little vampire militia is forming. Forming an army full of vampires and werewolves is the only way to stop Victoria and that’s what they did. They may all have agreed, but will they actually succeed? Bella cared for all of them but her love isn’t enough. Jacob is deeply in love with her and he’s willing to die just as Edwards is, but Jacob is only a new-born werewolf. He isn’t as trained as Edward is and this makes Bella worry. Will she decide to love Jake more as lovers to save his life or will she just leave him to die? Remember, Bella is deeply in love with Edward, is she willing to risk her love? Read this book and you’ll find out! Not only is it an adventurous novel, but it’s also a love story. Reading a Jr. High School book was no problem for me, so you can read it too if you want to!

New Moon – Stephenie Meyer

The second book of the Twilight Series is so romantic, yet it’s also very adventurous. Edward Cullen had just broken up with the love of his life, Bella Swan. Now while he runs around on other continents, Bella is suffering at home. She’s acting so perfect since she has nothing to do and this bothers Charlie. How can she make him happy? One day, Bella decides to act a bit dangerous and risky and then does she meet Jacob Black. Jacob Black is one pretty, young boy, but surely, he doesn’t act like one. He’s so tall and his voice is so husky you’ll believe he’s older than sixteen. Bella just adores Jake and he was her sun. Never had she felt like a hole was punched through her chest when she was with him and it felt good. But Bella knows if they keep on hanging out like this, sooner or later will they become more than friends. Will she risk her love for Edward for Jake. And what about Jake’s big secret? What about when Alice, Edward’s sister and Bella’s best friend/sister, finally comes back to visit? Will Bella’s aching love for Edward ever disappear? New Moon is just an unbelievable book, but I still liked Twilight better. Of course this is more of an 8th grader book, but romantic/fantasy books are kind of my thing. I like reading romantic books but adding a little bit of fantasy will make it more interesting.

Pendragon Merchant of Death-D.J. Machale

This story is pretty confusing at first. Basically, a 14 year old boy named Bobby finds out that he has to leave everything; his home, his friends, and his world! His uncle Press whisks him away to Denduron, the very first Earth. You see our earth is only the second earth. Pretty amazing isn’t it? Anyway, Bobby goes onto a sled with uncle press and they are being chased by quigs. Quigs are monsters unique to all the different territories (territories are like countries or states). Will Bobby find out what he is suposed to do in Denduron? How will he get home? Well you have to read the book to find out. I think boys would like this book better then girls and I would give it an 8 out of 10. Enjoy!

Lilly B. on the brink of Cool-Elizabeth Cody Kimmel

This book is about a girl named Lilly. Lilly thinks her parents are boring, because they drive at the same speed limit and they do the same thing every year. Lilly is bored because her best friend, Charlotte, is going to a camp called Young Executive Camp. Later Lilly finds out she has to attend a wedding. At the wedding Lilly meets a girl named Karma. Karma’s dad is named Charles and Karma’s mom is named Veronique. Lilly’s mom and dad tells her to stay away from them, but Lilly thinks they are cool and starts hanging out with them. One time Lilly went with them at night to swim and got in trouble. One day Charlotte called and Lilly tells her about Karma, Charles, and Veronique. Charlotte said that they are bad people, but Lilly does not believe her. Are the LeBlancs(Karma’s, Charles’, and Veronique’s last name) trouble? I think girls will like this better than boys. My opinion is that it is a girly book. In the beggining it was boring, BUT it got better.
