Then Again, Maybe I Won’t: by Judy Blume

Then Again, Maybe I Won’t by Judy Blume was a funny, and very stressful book to me. By stressful, I mean that a boy named Tony has so many problems that it actually made me mad.

Tony was a regular boy; regular friends, regular school, and a regular neighborhood. But when his brother’s wife got pregnant, it all changed. You see, Tony’s brotherr and his wife could not afford having a child, so Tony’s father, Mr. Miglione started working really hard on one of his inventions, to try and help pay for the baby that was soon to come. And, as luck had it, the Miglione family sold that invention and became rich! But Tony doesn’t want to leave his old newspaper route, his old friends, and Jefferson Middle School behind. But still, they move to a new, richer town. When Tony moves in, he meets a boy named Joel next door. And he has a sixteen year old sister too. Tony has a crush on Lisa, Joel’s sister, and he gets really frusterated when she goes out on dates with older guys. He is thinking, “No, Lisa! Pick me! I am better than that big guy!” That is problem number two. Problem number three is that Tony thinks Joel shoplifts. And, to add to the list, his Grandma refuses to come out of er room upstairs because the family won’t let her cook anymore, and that’s her favorite thing. Tony’s parents, and life has changed. They keep on spending money like there’es no tomorrow. WIl Tony ever go back to his normal life? Will he ever confront Joel about the whole stealing thing? Will Lisa realize that Tony’s enough for her?

To find out read, Then Again, Maybe I Won’t.

I would reccomend this book to boys, because it has some stuff thaet girls might not do, but I enjoyed it so much I read it in a day. And this is for sixth graders and up I would say, because there are a few parts in it which are not for younger children.

 READ IT!

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life- Part 1

Hi everyone! Did you enjoy the City of Ember? Well if you did you’ll enjoy this book! This next book club is the book Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass.

Jeremy Fink is about a 12-year old boy named Jeremy. He loves peanut butter so much he even sweats it!!! He finds a box that needs four keys. It holds the meaning of life, and was from his father who died when Jeremy was 8. He’s supposed to open it on his 13th birthday, but he doesn’t know where the keys are. Lizzy is Jeremy’s best friend and just like Jeremy’s dad, her mom is dead. Jeremy and Lizzy have to go and explore the city to try to find the keys before his birthday.

Once you get the book, ask yourself this question: What do you think the meaning of life is to Jeremy’s father?

Read chapters 1-5 (pg. 1-74). Then, go to Part 2.

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life- Part 2

What do you think of the book so far? At the beginning of the book, Lizzy forces Jeremy to open the cardboard box sent to his mom. In the cardboard box, there is a very “pretty” box that Jeremy’s dad wanted him to open on his 13th birthday. There is also a letter in the cardboard box talking about the keys to Jeremy’s dad’s box being misplaced. Jeremy and Lizzy go to Larry’s Locks and Clocks and the Flea Market to find the keys in this section. There were lots of keys at the Flea Market, but only one fit, and it still didn’t turn.

Here is the question for this section.

What is the meaning of life to you?

Don’t forget to reply. Please read to the 10th chapter, page 142. After that, go to Part 3.

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life- Part 3

In this section, Jeremy and Lizzy go into Harold’s office, the office of the person who lost the keys to Jeremy’s box. On the way there Lizzy finds one of the 3 missing cards in her collection. When they get to the office they sneak into the office building and search the office. When they get there, they look really hard but find nothing and end up getting caught. For their punishment they had to do some community service for the whole summer. They end up working for a guy named Oswald. They have to deliver pawned items to their original owners. They end up delivering a Winnie the Pooh book to a woman named Mrs. Billingsly. Mrs. Billingsly is very sad because her husband died and she hasn’t talked to her best friend for 67 years.

Here is our question for this section.

What do you think Mrs. Billingsly was doing with a Winnie the Pooh book?

I hope you will keep on reading this book to find out if Jeremy finds all 4 keys. Read up to the 15th chapter (pg. 216). Don’t forget to respond and answer our question. After you read to pg. 216, go to the next part, Part 4.

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life- Part 4

In this section Jeremy and Lizzy have to make two more deliveries. The first one is that they have to deliver a lamp to a man named Simon Rudolph. Simon used to be rich but he gave it all away. Then Jeremy and Lizzy ask if he knows the meaning of life. He shows them an example, a flower. Simon says that a painting to him reminds him to enjoy every moment, but to the flower it means nothing. So he says that the meaning of life is different to everyone. The second delivery is to a scientist named Dr. Grady. Dr. Grady is an astronomer. When they get back home Jeremy’s mom invites them to the board walk and they accept.

This is the question for this section.

For boys, do you think it is weird that Jeremy is friends with a girl? For girls, do you think it’s weird Lizzy’s friends with a boy?

Please read the rest of the book, and come back to this page to find the next section. Thanks, and enjoy the ending! (P.S. Did you enjoy this part of the book, or what? I know I did. Be sure to comment to this blog. Have a good time reading!

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life- Part 5

Hi everyone! Can you believe it’s finally over!? Jeremy Fink is a great book! Well, lets get back to the subject. In this section, Mr. Oswald has to move earlier then expected so Jeremy and Lizzy get to keep something from his old house. Jeremy was eying an old school brief case when Mr. Oswald tells him that there is a lot of loose junk in there, like keys, safety pins, paper clips, and stuff like that. That makes Jeremy really want it so he takes it and Lizzy takes a creepy blue eyed doll. When they get home Jeremy and Lizzy start to test all the keys. They find 3 out of the 4 keys but cannot find the other one. Once they get to Jeremy’s grandmother’s house Jeremy decides to try out the hula hoop, but he ends up being embarrassed by everyone else. Jeremy and Lizzy go and enter the talent show with Lizzy hula hooping and Jeremy assisting. But everything changes when Lizzy doesn’t feel so good and Jeremy has to take her place. Everything goes well and they end up winning 2nd place. The next day is Jeremy’s birthday and Lizzy surprises Jeremy when she gives him the last key to the box!!! They both go to the island in the middle of the lake and open the box. Everyone gets something in the box. Lizzy gets one of the last cards to her collection, Jeremy gets all of his father’s rocks of all the important events, and Jeremy’s mom and grandmother get a hug.

This is the last question so think about it hard.

Do you think that you’re personality is more like Lizzy or Jeremy?

Well everyone, we would like to thank you for joining this book club and hope you have a lot of fun. Thanks for joining our book club!

The Report Card – Part 2

HELLO PEOPLE!

Welcome back to our book club! We hope all of you guys liked the book so far. Was your answer corret?

Nora Rowly is a new Albert Einstein… but doesn’t want to show her genius. So, there is no other choice but to hide it. Nora acts like an average kid… what we mean by “average” is like getting D’s on her report card. Thus making people think that she’s incompetent. She does this for a reason; she wants to show that grades aren’t important, and it makes people feel like their incapable of reaching high standards, and it makes “smart people” brag about their intelligence.

What do you think about Nora’s plan to hide her true identity?

If you want to continue with our club, start reading to chapter 12, which are pages 51-89. Meet us in our next post!

The Report Card – Part 3

Aloha!

What is your rating of the book so far?

Now, let’s focus on the summary.

After the meeting, Nora takes an IQ test, missing 3 out of every 10 questions. Nora thinks she will get a C average.

Oh and before I forget, the librarian, Mrs. Bryne, is becoming her friend. It’s a little unbelievable because at the beginning, everyone thinks that she is inept. Mrs. Bryne tells her that her IQ scores were above grade level standards. Tthey think that Dr. Trindler, the guidence counsler, is planning another IQ test, thinking that the first one was a mess up.

Take time to think about these questions.

What do you think will happen next with Dr. Trindler and Nora?

Do you think Nora will…

A. Pass the test

B. Fail the test

C. Not take the test

D. All of the above :]

Thanks for participating in our book club! Now read chapters 13-18, which are pages 90-133. Join us next week for Part 4!

The Report Card – Part 4

Bonjour!

Did you enjoy our trivia question? What is your answer?

To continue, now that everyone knows that Nora is smart, she starts to show her true self. She acts like a smarty pants in class, and she corrects the teachers.

How disrespectful!

Then Nora suddenly starts to get 0’s on tests. After that, the principal demands an answer as to why she is “turning over a new leaf”.

She has high expectations for Nora.

In these chapters, Nora’s mom also wants her to go to a school for geniuses.

Here is some questions for this chapter.

Why do you think Nora has changed her attitude towards being a genius? Will Nora accept to go to the school?

So next, please read chapters’ 19- End. Be the one to join us in Part 5.

The Report Card – Part 5

Welcome back everyone!

What do you guys think of our club so far?

I can’t believe that Nora’s mom found out that she got three 0’s on her tests! “Ooh! She’s in trouble!” Now, Nora has to go to a BIG meeting. There, she finds out that Stephen sends out fliers telling kids to join the rebellion and lower down their standards, by getting F’s.

Now, Nora asks to go and speak to the Blue Team, and so does Stephen.

Here is a question to think about…

What do you think happens at the end? We want to know what YOU think!

Stay tuned because we will be adding our conclusion soon enough! Join us for our conclusion. :]]

The Report Card – Conclusion

Welcome back! Lets talk about the ending of the book.

We know that Nora and Stephen make a decision talk to the Blue Team. At the meeting they discuss grades. Nora speaks her opinion of the grades. Their speech worked and they didn’t get into trouble.

Here are some questions we want you to comment on:

-Do you think the author had a purpose for this book?

-Do you believe in Nora’s decision to fight for grades?

-What is your opinion on grades?

We hope you enjoyed reading the fantastic book! This book reminded us a lot about No Talking by Andrew Clements. So if you enjoyed this book you can try No Talking. There will be another book club that will be doing Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, so please check that out too! Thanks for joining us in this book club! J

City of Ember – Part 2

Welcome back everyone!

Thanks to all those who answered our discussion question.

Were your predictions right? From what we’ve read so far, we can tell this book is going to be good. This takes place in an area of eternal darkness. The only light source comes from light bulbs powered by the underground generator. But the lights have started to flicker and blackouts have been getting longer and longer and more often. What will happen if the lights go out forever?

In section one, Doon trades the job of messenger with Lina’s job as Pipeworks laboror so he can try and make a difference and fix the generator. Lina really seems to enjoy her messenger job, but poor Doon! Everything that he’s studied about fixing things has nothing to do with fixing the generator. And we loved the part where Lina tells Clary about what she pictures the outside world to be. At the end of this section, the biggest blackout of The City of Ember happened. Good thing that Doon was there to save Poppy.

Are you liking The City of Ember yet? We know we are! Check back next week and please do not read ahead.

Here’s our first discussion question: Based on Lina’s vision that she shared with Clary, what do you think might happen later in this story? Try to include facts from the vision in your prediction.

City of Ember – Part 3

Hi everyone!

We wanna give you all a BIG THANK YOU for participating. If you’re reading this, that means that you probably have finished the 2nd section of the book (ch. 6-10, 84-139). If you haven’t finished reading it yet, STOP READING THIS NOW. All I have to say about this section is: WOW. In this section, Lina finds a box that has what she thinks is a set of instructions inside, but isn’t sure what it says because her little sister was chewing on it and now all the words are scrambled up. Could this be the box that is mentioned in the Introduction? Lina thinks the note is important so she tells a few people about them, including the mayor, but none of them cares.

Then Lina tells Doon because she’s sure that he will be interested. Soon Lina and Doon figure out that they had o go down in the pipeworks and find a door, but when they find the door it’s locked. A few days later Lina finds out that her Granny is sick.

Okay here is our discussion question: Doon and Lina have to work together to figure out the mystery of Ember, but they are very different people. We want you to tell us the differences and similarities between these two main characters.

Next time we talk you should be done with chapters 10-15 (pg. 132-192)

City of Ember – Part 4

Welcome back everyone you should be done with section 3 of the book. In section three of the book because Lina’s grandma dies Lina and Poppy move in with Mrs. Murdo. Lina was suspicious about how Lizzie retrieved some food that was supposed to be extinct. She decides to investigate and finds out that Looper gave it to Lizzie. Later Lina and Doon decide go back down into the pipeworks.

When they go down into the pipeworks to find the door again there is a key in the lock. When they open the door they find that the mayor is sleeping, they also find tons and tons of light bulbs and plus more useful supplies. So they tell the assistant guard about the secret room and the mayor. They find out that the secret room is not the way out of Ember and there is another door. Once again they go back down and find the way out of ember but don’t leave just yet. So they tell everyone about the way to escape at the signing.

Okay our discussion question is: How do you think Lina and Doon are going to present information they discovered and how do you think the people of Ember are going to react?

Next time we meet you should be done with section 4 or the end of the book. See you soon.

City of Ember – Part 5

Hey welcome back! You should be done with the last section of the book. Now lets start discussing about the last chapters. The guards were chasing Lina because everyone thinks that she was spreading rumors about the mayor! When Lina was forced to speak to the mayor, he threatened to send her to the dark, cold Prison Room. Lina planned to run for it but then the lights when out. There was no flickering, it was just pitch black, but Lina managed to escape in the darkness. She met up with Doon and Poppy. Then they head down to the Pipeworks.

They go to the place where the boats are stored and the three of them get in the boat and head down the river. It takes a while to reach the end of the river and realize they have to hike for several hours. Lina and Doon filled up their bottles in the river and started their long hike with Poppy. When they finished the long hike, they find out that there was a whole new world above Ember. Lina and Doon decided they should tell the people of Ember so they wrote a note, attached it to a rock, and sent it down the river. Back in Ember, Mrs. Murdo finds the note and begins to untie it.

Will Mrs. Murdo understand the instructions that Lina and Doon sent? Will the citizens of Ember escape to the new world?

Black Beauty- Anna Sewell

This story Black Beauty by Anna Sewell to me is a very beautiful story. It all begins when Black Beauty was born at Squire Gordan’s Park. Black Beauty was a beautiful black male horse with black hair that never bites nor kicks. He then plays around with his friends who were the colts, colts are horses but much rougher. Black Beauty then gets sold many other times but once he got sold to a man that treated him well but he lets people rent Black Beauty. This is when he met his horse best friend Ginger. Ginger was a beautiful horse very much like Black Beauty but has brown hair. Then Black Beauty tells his story on how the people that rented him always would whip him and would do so with the other horses. Later on he had very good luck because he went to a fair so that he can get sold again and he saw this grey eyed old man that treated him very well and then the man bought Black Beauty and took him back to his house. There he got trained to be a cab horse. But one day he saw his old horse friend Ginger and Ginger was way out of shape. She was weak and got very skinny but when Black Beauty had to go home he kept on wondering if that could be Ginger. If you want to know if that was really his best horse friend Ginger or if Black Beauty gets sold again then you will have to read Black Beauty by Anna Sewell.

Holes-By Louis Sachar

This book is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who is falsely accused of stealing a pair of shoes. When he goes to court, he is proven guilty and the judge gives him two choices. He can go to jail, or he can go to Camp Green Lake. Naturally, Stanley chooses Camp Green Lake. But Camp Green Lake is not like ordinary camps. Boys who go there have to dig holes all day long: One five-foot deep and five-foot wide. At first, Stanley thinks this is all his “no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather’s” fault.

The story is, when his great great grandfather was a young man, he was in love with a teenage girl named Myra, along with a man named Igor. But Myra’s dad said that in order to marry Myra, the two men had to raise a piglet that would weigh enough and be fat enough for Myra’s family to eat. Based on their pig’s weight, one of them would get to marry her. Because of his passionate longing to marry her, and because he didn’t have a pig, Stanley’s great great grandfather goes to a fortune teller to plead for a solution to his problem. She tells him to take one of her new-born piglets and carry it up a special mountain every day. The mountain has a river running down it, and the fortune teller tells him let the pig drink from the river, an sing it a special song. But the fortune teller’s one condition is: After Stanley’s great great grandfather is done with the pig, he must carry her up the mountain, let her drink from the river, and sing her the special song. If he does not, all his descendants will be doomed, FOREVER! But because of pigheadedness and because he plain forgot, Stanley’s great great grandfather did not marry Myra and he did not carry the fortune teller up the mountain.

While at Camp Green Lake, digging holes as usual,  Stanley is falsely accused again for stealing the manager of the camp’s (Mr. Sir) sunflower seeds, he is taken to the warden. The warden takes her venomous nail polish, paints her nails, and slaps Mr. Sir across the face. She laughs and tells Stanley,

“He won’t die, unfortunatly for you.

“Will Stanley survive Camp Green Lake? Will he ever know the true story of Camp Green Lake? To find out, read Holes, by Louis Sachar.

I think this book would appeal to both boys and girls. This book was great and had me longing for more. It does switch back and forth between Stanley’s story and the great great gandfather’s story, so it does get a little confusing. Except for that, you should definetly read Holes and its sequel, Small Steps.

Brisingr-Christopher Paolini

After the Battle of Burning Plains, Eragon must fulfill the oaths that he swore to many people. He must find strength from inside of him and must travel across the empire to fulfill his oaths. During his trips, Eragon will learn his family secrets. I give this book a 5 star rating because it is adventurous and action packed. This book appeals to boys and girls, age 11 years or older. This book is the third in the series, and would not make sense to anyone who hasn’t read the first two books, Eragon and Eldest. This book has lots of pages, a complex vocabulary and some inappropriate language. I hope you have a chance to read this book and comment about it.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – By Jeff Kinney

The story that I read is Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. This story is about a young boy named Greg Heffly and his experience in middle school. Greg didn’t want a diary in the first place because he specifically told his mother that he wanted a journal. Greg thinks that one day he will become rich, famous, and handsome but right now he is stuck in school, getting bullied around. Greg’s best friend is named Rowley and they always hang out together. Greg’s brothers, Manny and Rodrick, are always getting him in trouble and Manny is younger and Rodrick is older. In school, there is something called the cheese touch and that is something that got started by somebody touching a moldy piece of cheese and it got passed around. Greg gets no attention from anybody and he is always trying to impress girls. There is a wrestling unit in school and Greg got beat up by some of the weaker kids in his class. Greg thought that he would be stronger by working out, but his dad said that exercise equipment was to expensive. Greg is always trying to listen to one of Rodrick’s heavy metal Cd’s, but he is always caught by an adult. When it was winter time, Greg and Rowley made a plan to build the worlds largest snowman like they do every year, but of course like always the snowman melted. Gregory thinks that in school, if he becomes a safety patrol then he wouldn’t get bullied around. If somebody messes around with a safety patrol then they could get suspended. Greg thinks that if he becomes the class clown then he will be more popular. Greg thought that if he pulls a prank on a substitute then he won’t  get in trouble. Greg was wrong because the substitute was his MOTHER! If you want to find out more then read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Becoming Naomi Leon-Pam Munoz Ryan

Becoming Naomi Leon is about a girl named Naomi who lives with her little brother, Owen, and her great-grandmother, Mary Outlaw, in a trailer park in Lemon Tree, California  When Naomi and Owen where little, they lived with their father and mother in Mexico. One supposedly “normal” night, when the Outlaws were eating dinner, Naomi and Owen’s long-lost mother barges in and demands to be allowed to see her children. Owen and Naomi are shocked to see her, but excited all the same, because they don’t remember her from when they were little. But something is wrong with their mother. Breaking Dawn – Stephenie Meyer

Breaking Dawn is the 4th book in the Twilight Saga. There is Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer is about the continuous conflicts between a vampire, Edward and a mortal girl, Bella.
Edward and Bella are deeply in love as they leave high school and find a college where they both can attend. When they are in Bella’s room together, Edward pulls out a ring and proposes passionately and, Bella agrees to marry him since, they’re out of high school (Edward’s one condition to marriage). As you can see, they’ve talked about this before but, Bella thought it would be a much later time before the get married. At the wedding that Alice, Edward’s sister, plans, Bella flows down the stairs in a white, fluffy satin dress. After the wedding, Edward and Bella leave for a honeymoon to an island owned by Edward’s mom, Esme. The island is called Isle Esme. During the trip, Edward and Bella have a great time! At the island, they hear the beautiful crashing waves, smell the cool, fresh sea air, and see only what they want to see, each other.
They come back early because Edward and Bella find out that, Bella is pregnant!! I know, unbelievably hectic!! When they arrive, Edward’s family protects her from everyone including her own dad. But, Jacob (the werewolf) is allowed to visit her. Jacob finds out that Bella is pregnant and is so shocked because, he is in love with her. (Too bad she’s not in love with him, she’s in love with EDWARD.) I mean, who isn’t? Anyways, while Bella is pregnant with her baby, Jacob and two other werewolves help guard Edward’s house (where Bella is staying while her pregnancy). When the time comes, Bella is ready to have her baby! But, when she’s ready, Edward’s dad, the doctor and vampire, is gone hunting!! Edward and Jacob, I know two guys, help her get her baby out. The baby is a half immortal half mortal so, it is huge in her stomach. When they try to get the baby out, it bites it’s way through Bella’s stomach and comes out. (ehhh)
It’s a girl. Right after Bella gave birth to her, Edward injected venom in the heart to turn her into a vampire. Bella lay where she is after giving birth to her, for two to three days straight to restart her life as a vampire. When she awakes, she cannot see her baby, Renesemee, yet because Renesemee still has blood in her. If Bella cannot control herself, Renesemee might get her blood sucked. So, in order to see her baby, she must hunt first. On her first hunt, she is alone with Edward. She first hunts a mountain lion, then a group of elk. When her thirst is under control, they go back to see their baby, Renesemee. When they arrive, Bella carries Renesemee and is so thrilled to see her. But, to everyone else other than the werewolves and Edward’s family, Renesemee is adopted. Also, some vampires have special abilities. Edward can read minds, Alice can see the future and Edward’s brother, Jasper can control and sooth the emotions of others. However, Bella’s ability is a little different. She can protect people from other’s special abilities. Also, Renesmee can show people what she is thinking from the touch of her palm.
When Bella and Jacob take a walk with Renesemee, a vampire is there and mistakens Renesemee for a vampire child. You see, in ‘vampire world’ it is illegal to have a immortal baby so, the baby will be executed if seen. Though, she is HALF immortal. The vampire, Irina told the Volturi in Italy to destroy Renesemee!! Alice sees in the future that the Volturi will come to Washington and try to kill Renesmee. They are all so worried and prepare Edward’s family and Jacob’s werewolf clan to fight. They all look for many people that are vampires to help as witnesses and come up with 20-23 people. But, however many people they have to fight, will they ever be able to stop the Volturi from……………their worst nightmare?, for the Volturi is the most powerful clan in the WORLD.

There are no possible words in the world than can explain my passion for this book!! I think it is the best out of the four but, others think it is too wrapped up around Renesemee. I wish the series would go on FOREVER, now that the series is over, I’m breathless. There’s nothing around to read….NOTHING! Though, I’m finding some pretty good books, nothing will be like my obsession for the Twilight Saga.
Stephenie Meyer really captures your heart, stings it, and then lets it go with the obsession of wanting more in this particular book.

But, think about it, If you could live forever……..what would you live for? At least you know what Edward and Bella CULLEN would live for, each other. =D

H.I.V.E.-Mark Walden

H.I.V.E. stands for the Higher Institute of Villainous Education and that is exactly where Otto Malpanese is taken to. H.I.V.E. only recruits the best of the best, the most cleverest of the cleverest, and the most smartest of the smart to come to this school. In the beginning Otto suddenly wakes up to find himself very dizzy and in a helicopter with one other kid.  The two kids introduce themselves and Otto finds that the kid’s name is Wing. Both of them are very dizzy. When the helicopter lands they are dropped off on a volcano! They see a whole bunch of other kids and don’t know where they are. Later they find out that they are at the school, (you guessed it!) H.I.V.E.! Soon they start to make friends and all of them start to tell each other what kind of bad thing they did to get into this school. For example Nella, a stuck up girl, broke into many jewelry stores and stole stuff that was very valuable. They all traded stories until it was Otto’s turn. For some reason he doesn’t know how he got in trouble! Well, I’ll have to stop there because I don’t want to give the whole story away. If you want to find out what Otto did to get him into H.I.V.E. then you have to read this book. I think this book is for anyone as long as you like adventure stories.

Happy reading!

Daughter of Venice- Donna Jo Napoli

14 year old Donata is the Daughter of a Noble family. In the late 16th Century, there are strict rules for noble daughters. The noble daughters could not go outside of their palazo, house (unless it is for parties), while noble sons get to go outside whenever they please. And when they get older, the sons would get a college education, and the daughters would be sent to a convent. Donata thinks that this is not fair, so as she diguise herself as a boy and sneaks out of her palazo, she sees a whole different world outside her palazo. I enjoyed this book, although it was a little slow. I would rate it 3/5 stars and I think it would appeal to mostly girls.

Elizabeth

In this story a young girl named Elizabeth writes about her life. She talks about her mothers! She had 6 mothers and 1 father who married them all! Elizabeth starts her entries with talking about her 1st mother and how she had got her head cut off. It ,was disgusting! Her sister and her don’t like each other at all! Her father is very chubby and jolly! Her brothers name is Edward and gets sick alot. But he also likes to play. Like the time Edward got Elizabeth a pet monkey! They trained them all day in the tennis courts. That would be so much fun! Any way, she travels alot and feels invisible because no one seems to notice her. Because of that she never is going to be Queen. But thats OK because she doesn’t want to be Queen. If her sister Marty dies than a baby will become Queen! A baby , as a Queen! I can’t tell you anymore than that reader but I can tell you that its an awesome book and that you should read it.

Historical Fiction

Mary,Bloody,Mary- Carolyn Meyer

What if you were rich, had a happy life, and was the only child in the family. That’s what Princess Mary Tudor’s life was, until her father, King HenryVIII betrayed her mother( Queen Catherine), and made a new religion. The reason beyond that was because King HenryVIII wanted to marry Anne Boylen, because she promised him a son, whom will take over his throne when he passes. But Mary has a different impression with Anne, she thinks she is a witch! So when King HenryVIII divorces Queen Catherine, Mary’s life has flipped from princess to servant, riches to rags. Of course most people would know what happen to Queen Anne, but this book is just from Mary’s point of view.  I think mostly girls would like this book, because it is about a princess, and it’s a girl’s point of view.
